Fennec Foxes

Sar would like to provide Friskies for a skulk of foxes - foxes who are you!
Most of you have seen Sar's fox ears, if you have not yet experienced the mischievous delight of wearing them yourself. And some of you have consumed a Frisky or two (Louie makes them best, but essentially Fresca + whiskey = Frisky). Let us all become a skulk of Frisky-drinking foxes and go out on the playa!
Early in the week is probably best – maybe Tuesday or Wednesday?
Get Foxy! (Group Order for Fox Ears)
Sar would like to place a group order for fox ears, with hopes of getting a discount.
They are made by Pingi Hats here in Seattle, and normally cost $30.
Please add your name to this list if you want to order fox ears:
- Damien
- Jamie
- Craig
- Louie
- Hannah
- Neil
- Chelsea
- Kat
- Jon
Notes on Fennec Foxes
You may have noticed that the title of this proposed project is "Fennec Foxes & Friskies" - that is because the fox ears made by Pengi Hats is based not just on any ordinary fox, but on the Fennec Fox, which is the awesomest possible kind of fox for us to be for several reasons:
- It is a desert fox, its habitat being the Saharan Desert of Northern Africa.
- Its ears are each approximately the size of the rest of its head, which is helpful both for dissipating heat and for hearing edible creatures moving underground. (The Pingi ears aren't proportionately as big simply because they wouldn't stay up if they were, but they're still awful cute and flop around.)
- It is the tiniest of all canis (dog-like) creatures, weighing in around 2 or 3 pounds.
- It makes squeaky little barks like a dehydrated burner in the morning trying to wake up.
- Unlike most foxes, fennec foxes like to hang out in groups.
- The fox in Le Petit Prince is based on a fennec fox that Antoine de Saint-Exupéry found when he crashed a plane in the Saharan Desert, and he later kept one as a pet. Did you read that book? It's awesome. Also, there's a 1974 musical with Gene Wilder playing the fox that Sar watched as a very small person and hasn't since then, so if anyone's up for a night of strange, funny fox movies, we could watch that one and The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and it would be a fantastic evening indeed. Ahem.
CAUTIONARY NOTE:
The only thing cuter than a fennec fox is Beth in fox ears:
