Space Pontification:

Excerpted from Marty's email to the camp

I'd like to strongly encourage us to think about balancing what we need with what we want when we're packing our gear. Last year my goal was to keep 1/3 of the space in the truck available for the camp and 2/3 available to the community. And, as we all saw, it was a tight fit. This year, i'm thinking 50/50. That's 600+ cubic feet for our camp. Of that 600+ cubic feet, we've already filled about 475 cubic feet with the following:

  • Shade structures: Your Mom, Rufus, B-camp, Bitch dome, Kitchen
  • Coolers
  • Water barrels
  • Personal gear (three 31 gallon bins per person)

... Aside from extra people and additional shade structures, we've also got a growing list of things we're doing and bringing this year that we didn't last year:

All of which i'm really excited about... and they have to go somewhere.

Once we've filled the space I've reserved exclusively for our gear, I think we should then reserve additional space in the same manner as everyone else in the community.

2nd Truck

The idea of taking a second truck came up at the informal Newbie Picnic meeting. I might try to run some numbers on this and see what the costs/benefits might be. Overall, I don't think it's useful unless we can fill it 50% with community gear.
