From Bgx
In 2007, the shower and adjunct waste water evaporator served Camp BurnGreen well and contributed significantly to the mythological coolness.

White Trash Water Feature
The evaporator drew many admiring folk to take a closer look and ask - "What the hell is this?" Joe enjoyed telling them - "It's our White Trash Water Feature!"
Design
Requirements
Shower
- high visibility of naked, wet showeree
- can accomodate at least 2 showerees at a time
- water channels into evaporator
- provides something akin to a "shower"...
Evaporator
- connects to electrical power source (deep-cycle battery or generator)
- just disgusting enough, but not too disgusting
- self-filters playa sludge and MOOP
Last year's evaporator was based on a design Joe saw in a Burningman forum. If he can find that post again, he'll link it here. basically a bilge pump cycles the water from a kiddy-pool up onto a broad flat black surface from whence it cascades through a wire mesh cylinder. The primary idea is to create maximum surface exposure of water to dry air.
Materials
The shower was built with no real design other than a raised platform to make the showeree more visible from a distance. The material for the primary load-bearing sections were from a futon-frame scavenged from the curb of a city street. The actual water part of the "showering" was achieved by a Solar Shower (tm) hung on a metal rod at the top of the structure. Joe has some random lumber left over from Mercy Ride, but otherwise will be flying by the seat of pants again this year. The Shower Team is open to suggestions for this year's shower design!
