Talk:Shower and gray water evaporator

The only other showering system I saw last year that compared to ours had a system that looked just like ours except that the wire mesh part was much taller. I'm not sure how much that would help things evaporate faster, but it couldn't hurt... --Damien 18:14, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

Not so convinced

I made ours as tall as the cheapest roll of wire mesh was wide. We evaporated many, many gallons of used water last year. We could've run the thing dry on a regular basis if Jacob hadn't kept turning the generator off every night. Or if Lee hadn't run over his deep-cycle battery, then the generator wouldn't have mattered as much... --Joe 18:53, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

Taller eq More Enemies

taller would evaporate more water, but there's an upper limit. i vaguely remember the thread on Eplaya about this incredibly effective evaporator design. one experiential warning in that thread implied that if it's too tall, the water is more likely to be blown off the mesh and onto the playa, the shower, the neighbors, etc.

just as useful info.--Marty

Taller is better!?

I'm convinced that it's more Surface+Dry that evaporates than Heat. I suspect that the night air is plenty effective for evaporation, thus I'd love to run it through the night on battery power. If there's a force gathering for a taller evaporator, I will submit to the pressure. Be warned, though, that I might fly a plane into it if I think it's too tall... --Joe 12:54, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
